UK Student Visa Guide for African Students

By Travel Ease Education · 15 March 2026

The UK student route rewards well-prepared, funded applicants. Here is what you need — CAS, maintenance funds, English — explained plainly.

How the UK student route works

After you receive an offer and confirm your place, the university issues a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies). You then apply for the Student visa, proving funds and English.

What you need

  • A CAS from a licensed student sponsor
  • Maintenance funds held for the required period (tuition + living)
  • An approved English test (IELTS for UKVI or accepted alternative)
  • TB test certificate where applicable, and the Immigration Health Surcharge

The Graduate Route

Eligible graduates can stay to work for a period after completing their degree. This makes the UK attractive despite its high cost — but you must be funded to get there.
